Sometimes it’s hard to know the value of a single act. When we ask you to make a call, write your legislator, to write a letter or sign a petition, we want you to know: your voice matters.
Here is proof. Last month, we asked for your help getting the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) more co-sponsors in the Senate. The TVPRA is a vital bill that helps to protect victims of human trafficking and demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to ending this crime and human rights abuse.
You called and your Senators answered. After more than 60 days with no new co-sponsors, 6 more Senators put their names on the most important federal anti-trafficking legislation in Congress after the call-in day. We are now so much closer to our target of 60 cosponsors. (See the full list of Cosponsors here.)
You did that.
PS: If you’ve got a moment, please send an email thanking your Senator for his or her support.
And if your Senator hasn’t signed on yet, you can still ask him or her to co-sponsor this vital legislation.
